PROPOSED AMEDMENTS April 12-14, 2024 Little America Cheyenne, WY
Modification of District Bylaws – Articles 6 and 7
At our House of Delegates meeting on April 14, 2024, we will have the opportunity to vote to approve or reject a modification to Article 6 plus part of a sentence of Article 7, Section 1, of our Rocky Mountain District Bylaws. This change has been suggested by the Kiwanis International Board at its January 2024 meeting. It will allow our district to hold annual and special conventions, meetings and House of Delegates via any method, including distributed or hybrid means, that is legal in our area. Previously, these gatherings were required to be in person and at one place. Several years ago, when confronted with the Covid problems, we were permitted to hold distributed meetings (mostly via ZOOM) because Kiwanis International declared an emergency situation and, for that year, we were relieved of the “In Person” requirement. This proposed modification of our bylaws will permit the district board to decide by majority vote no later than December 31 of any year to hold the meetings the next year by other methods including but not limited to distributed or hybrid gatherings. If, in any future year starting in 2025, there is no decision to change the meeting method from the “default” in-person meetings, this new bylaw provision will have no impact. If a situation develops in the future making such a distributed method desirable and/or needed, the board will have the option to decide to do so. If the House of Delegates on April 14, 2024, decides to reject this proposal, the meeting method now in use will continue unchanged. There will be an opportunity at the House of Delegates to discuss this proposal and questions may be presented at that time.
